We saw people were provided with a choice of healthy food and drinks which helped to ensure their nutritional needs were met.
Risks to people's safety had been assessed by staff and regularly reviewed to ensure they contained up to date information. Care plans included information about how people preferred to be supported. Staffing levels were sufficient to meet people's needs and to enable them to do be supported in a way that they wished. Staff received support and training to give them the necessary skills and knowledge to meet people's assessed needs.

We spoke with the Local Authority Contracts Officer and the Infection control nurse who informed us that they did not have any concerns about this service. Staff were receiving training on a regular basis and this was monitored by the manager. Medicines were administered by staff who were trained and assessed as being competent to do this. Appropriate checks of the building and maintenance systems were undertaken to ensure health and safety.

The principle rooms consist of three separate lounges, a garden room and a dining room all on the ground floor. Every possible care has been taken with furnishings and décor, in order that they are not only functional but pleasing to the eye. These spacious communal rooms benefit from large picture windows with delightful views.

We are situated in beautiful parkland surroundings at Sharow Cross, only minutes from Ripon centre and within easy access of all local amenities. The private and tranquil gardens are extensive, well maintained and easily accessible. I want to thank you for looking after my mother in your home as this makes a huge difference to me knowing that she is in such a wonderful homely environment. The accomodation itself is always very clean, pleasant and well kept. Mum especially enjoys many hours sitting in the consevatory in the sunshine looking out on the beautiful gardens. This provided a good overview of the quality of the service provided and meant the quality of the service was being kept under review. We saw from people's care plans that people were supported to live as independently as possible. Staff at the home had carried out an assessment of the needs of each person, and kept this under review, to enable appropriate care and support to be given. The care home is a large detached property situated in its own grounds. Accommodation is provided over three floors and there are two passenger lifts for people who have reduced mobility.

The service had in place policies and procedures covering medication. This made sure that people received their medication as prescribed. We saw positive interactions between people and staff and people told us they were happy and felt well cared for.
